Project Engineering Manager
The incumbent is expected to contribute to a positive working environment with a continued commitment to safety, while completing other duties including but not limited to the following:
•Provide day to day administrative and technical guidance to a staff of engineers and technicians within the Engineering department.
•Resolve technical problems independently within discipline; work with other departments in order to establish project budgets and schedules and to monitor progress.
•Delegate and manage assignments within broad objectives and limits. May be responsible for the supervision of 5-20 engineers.
•To be the technical leader of the engineering department
•To review the viability/feasibility of proposed projects and provide reports, costs, and recommendations
•Lead with technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating projects within time/manpower and budget parameters and within regulatory requirements
•Plan and develop engineering capital projects; may develop new concepts and approaches
•Maintain liaison with appropriate people in other departments as well as external organizations and agencies
•Monitor and report on progress of ongoing projects
•Responsible for performance reviews, training, and development of Engineering Staff
•May act as a consultancy/trouble-shooting service for other areas of the organization
•This senior management position is a great opportunity for candidates with an Engineering Degree in a related discipline, combined with 10 years related experience. Experience in the petroleum refinery industry is preferred.
•10+ years’ experience in engineering, or a project management role, including Reliability engineering & Turnarounds is preferred.
•5 years of supervisory experience is required.
•Strong organizational and time management skills combined with Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
•The successful candidate must be eligible for membership in Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL).
